Grok bot vs claude cowork works best inside your Agent OS as a hand-off, not a contest: Grok Bot catches work as it arrives, Claude Cowork turns it into finished files, and your own agent writes the briefs for both.
Grok Bot sits on a cloud computer that stays signed in to your sites and reacts to emails, Slack messages and webhooks.
Cowork runs each task in a fresh, isolated session and hands back Excel, PowerPoint and formatted documents.
Below is a quick start, five prompts to paste, and the weekly rhythm I'd run.
No official source from xAI or Anthropic lines the two up, so this split is my own take on their docs as of 4 November 2026.

| Job | Send it to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reacting to a new email, Slack message or form | Grok Bot | Routines start on events, not just a clock |
| Chores behind website logins | Grok Bot | Sign-ins persist on its cloud computer |
| Spreadsheets, decks and reports | Claude Cowork | Excel with working formulas, PowerPoint, formatted docs |
| Work on files in your own folders | Claude Cowork | Reaches connected folders through Claude Desktop |
| Writing the briefs and keeping the log | Your Agent OS agent | One place that knows what each tool did |
| Anything that spends money | You | Approve it yourself, every time |
Grok Bot gives you named Bots with jobs and memory, each working on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem and terminal, according to the Grok Bot overview.
Every Bot on your account shares that one computer, its files and its logins.
Claude Cowork takes the agentic architecture behind Claude Code and points it at knowledge work, with no terminal needed, per Anthropic's Cowork guide.
You describe an outcome and come back to organised files, research summaries or finished documents.
For the coding-agent version of this split, see Grok Bot vs Codex in your Agent OS.
Grok Bot's cloud computer keeps running when your laptop is closed, and logins saved there carry over to the next task.
It only runs commands on your own machine if you allow it, and the default setting asks every time.
Cowork builds a sandbox per session on Anthropic's servers that can't reach your network and is deleted afterwards, per the architecture overview.
It reaches local folders only through Claude Desktop, only for folders you've connected, and only while the app is open.
So give Grok Bot the logins and give Cowork the folders.
cowork-inbox, and connect only that folder.Grok Bot needs a plan that includes it: xAI's plan page names Premium, Super and Ultra on The X Subscription, and Plus doesn't include it.
Cursor's own Grok Bot page lists Cursor plans and SuperGrok links instead, so confirm access in your account.
Cowork needs a paid Claude plan: Pro, Max, Ultra, Team or Enterprise.

Your job is customer enquiries for [business name].
Read new enquiries, research what the customer is asking for,
and draft replies in my voice using UK spelling.
Never send email, buy anything, or delete files without my approval.
Keep a source link for every fact you use.
Remember these rules for all future work.A Bot keeps lasting rules like these in its own memory, per the Bots docs.
Check later with "What do you remember about me?" and correct anything out of date in chat.
Get yourself an email address and show me the approval card first.
Then set up a routine: when an email arrives at that address,
read the enquiry, check our booking page for the next three free slots,
and leave a draft reply in this chat. Do not send it.
If the booking page won't load, tell me instead of guessing.
Use the Europe/London time zone.Routines can start on email, Slack, webhook and developer-tool events, per the routines docs.
Email a routine sends waits as a draft until you press Send, so this prompt stays safe even if you forget the last line.
Open the routine afterwards and check that When to run reads the way you meant.
Create a project from Projects → + → Start from scratch, then paste this into its instructions:
This project is monthly client reports.
Use UK spelling and plain English.
Every figure must name the file it came from.
Remember each client's preferred layout inside this project only.
Ask me before deleting or overwriting any file. Each project keeps its own instructions, context, scheduled tasks and memory, per Anthropic's projects article.
Turn off "Use account memory" on the project page if you want it fully separate from your chats.
/schedule
Every Monday at 9 AM, open the "Sales exports" folder in my Google Drive.
Build an Excel workbook with one tab per week, working SUM formulas,
and a summary tab that compares this week with last week.
Don't email or share it. Leave it in the session for me to review.Scheduled tasks run in the cloud with no device online and use your connectors and plugins, per the scheduled tasks guide.
Point them at a connected app like Drive rather than a local folder, because a task that needs local files only runs locally.
Write two prompts for me.
Prompt A is for my Grok Bot: collect this week's enquiries from its inbox
and list them with dates and status. No sending.
Prompt B is for Claude Cowork: turn that list into a five-slide
PowerPoint summary for Friday's team meeting.
Keep each prompt under 120 words, name what each agent must not do,
and add both to my agent log with today's date.Your agent becomes the dispatcher, so neither tool needs to know the other exists.

Approvals on the phone work the same as on desktop, per the Grok Bot mobile docs.
Cowork sends a phone notification when a task finishes or needs you.
Inside the AI Profit Boardroom we share the agent-log template that keeps this rhythm on track.
Pick Grok Bot for anything that starts from an incoming message or lives behind a login.
Pick Claude Cowork for anything that ends in a file or lives in your folders.
Use your Agent OS to brief both and keep the record.
Want the full set of prompts? They're all inside the AI Profit Boardroom.
Neither. Let your Agent OS agent write the briefs, send event-driven work to Grok Bot and file-heavy work to Cowork.
A scheduled task that needs local files or apps only runs locally. Point scheduled tasks at connected apps like Google Drive so they run in the cloud.
Add an Ask first rule for external email. Email a routine sends from the Bot's own address already waits as a draft until you press Send.
No. Each Grok Bot keeps its own memory, and Cowork shares memory with your Claude chats and projects. Your Agent OS log is what links them.
Paste prompt 1 today, add the Cowork project tomorrow, and book a free strategy session if you want help running grok bot vs claude cowork as one team.
