Grok Bot iOS: Approve, Brief And Review Your Bots From An iPhone In Your Agent OS

Grok Bot iOS turns your iPhone into the approvals desk for your Agent OS: the Bots do the work on a cloud computer, and you start tasks, answer questions and sign off from the phone.

The app needs iOS 18 or later and installs from the App Store, per xAI's mobile guide.

Below you will find a quick start, five prompts to paste into your Agent OS, and a daily rhythm that splits the work between desk and phone.

Where the iPhone fits in your Agent OS

JobGrok Bot on iPhoneYour Agent OS
Starting a taskText, dictation, voice chat, SiriWrites the brief you paste in
ApprovalsCards with Allow once, Always allow, DenyDrafts the Custom Rules you add
Reviewing resultsPages, Library, searchTurns results into next steps
Setup and maintenanceNot available on mobileChecklists you run at the desk

The phone reaches the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors and shared cloud computer as the desktop app.

Work keeps going in the cloud when you lock the screen, so nothing stops because you put the phone away.

That makes the split simple: your Agent OS thinks and drafts, Grok Bot does, and the iPhone is where you say yes or no.

The AI Profit Boardroom walks through this exact split in its Agent OS trainings.

Phone and desktop also draw on the same usage, so moving work to the phone neither costs nor saves you allowance.

Quick start in six taps

  1. Install Grok Bot from the App Store on an iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
  2. Tap Log In or Sign Up and authenticate in the browser with the same Cursor account you use on desktop.
  3. If your access comes from SuperGrok or X Premium+, tap Link Grok Account, then Finished Linking? Refresh My Status.
  4. Allow notifications when asked.
  5. Open Settings, check Auto Review is on in the Bot group, and tap Custom Rules.
  6. Open Settings → Connect apps and choose iPhone to allow the phone apps you want the Bot to use.

Check your plan first: Premium, Super and Ultra on The X Subscription include Grok Bot, and Plus does not.

If your account already has access, do not buy again through Apple; the paywall is only for accounts with nothing.

Prompt 1: check my access before I buy anything

Run this in your Agent OS before you open the paywall, and paste in what your billing pages show.

The point is to stop a second subscription before it starts, because Apple bills an in-app plan separately and Cursor cannot cancel or refund it for you.

I'm about to install the Grok Bot iPhone app. Here is what I pay for today:
[paste plan names from my billing pages: X Subscription tier, any Cursor plan,
SuperGrok, X Premium+, and anything billed by Apple].

Using these rules from docs.x.ai/grok-bot/mobile:
- Premium, Super and Ultra include Grok Bot; Plus does not.
- Legacy Cursor paid plans and Cursor Teams seats carry over.
- A Cursor plan and a SuperGrok/X Premium+ link don't add together.
- Only monthly individual plans can be bought in the app.

Tell me: do I already have access, should I buy anything in the app,
and is there any Apple-billed subscription I need to cancel?

Prompt 2: write my iPhone Custom Rules

Custom Rules are plain-language sentences with an outcome of Allow automatically or Ask first.

Let your Agent OS draft them from how you actually work, then add them one by one under Custom Rules on the phone.

Draft 6 Grok Bot Custom Rules for me. Each rule needs:
1. "When Grok Bot wants to:" one action in plain words
2. "It should:" Allow automatically OR Ask first

My business: [describe]. Things I never want done without me:
[list]. Things I'm happy to let run: [list].
Always include Ask first rules for emailing someone new,
posting publicly, spending money, and changing Apple Home
accessories such as locks or the garage door.
Keep each rule under 12 words so it reads well on a phone.

Prompt 3: plan who gets notified, and where

Notifications follow rules set out in Settings and notifications.

While you use the Mac or Windows app, your own Bots alert the desktop instead, finished replies skip the phone, and the phone is pinged about 3 minutes later when a Bot needs you.

Push delivery on iPhone is rolling out gradually, so plan around it.

I run these Bots: [list each Bot and what it does].
I work at a desk from [hours] and on my phone the rest of the day.

Grok Bot rules: each Bot has its own Notifications switch (Bot profile
on the phone); Settings > Notifications turns off phone alerts for all
Bots; while the desktop app is in use, alerts go to the desktop and
finished replies skip the phone.

Recommend which Bots should notify me, which should stay silent,
and a daily time to check the quiet ones.

Prompt 4: turn phone photos into a task brief

Share any photo, file, link or text from another iPhone app and pick a Bot chat; it sits in the composer until you add your words.

HEIC photos from the camera show as images, per the Grok Bot changelog entry for v0.54.0.

Pair that with your Agent OS so every photo arrives with a proper brief, not a bare image.

Each message takes up to 20 attachments, with images up to 25 MB each, so a full site visit fits in one go.

I'm about to share [number] photos from my iPhone to a Grok Bot chat.
They show: [describe, e.g. a damaged shelf, a whiteboard, a receipt].

Write the one message I should send with them:
- what each photo is
- what the Bot should do with it
- what the finished result should look like
- what it must ask me before doing
Keep it under 80 words.

Prompt 5: a morning review page I can read on the phone

Bots can build pages such as reports and trackers, and you open them from their card or the Bot's Library.

Pages need app version 1.14.0 or later on the phone, per the files and results docs.

Write a Grok Bot request for a daily routine that builds one page
each morning at 7am in my time zone. The page should show:
- yesterday's finished tasks
- anything waiting for my approval
- tomorrow's calendar items
Make it readable on an iPhone: short rows, no wide tables.
Tell the Bot to keep it Private.

A daily rhythm: desk, commute, sofa

Approval cards from your own chat wait for you, while cards raised by routines expire after 30 minutes, so check background work before it closes.

Shortcuts worth setting up once

Four actions appear in Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts once the app is installed: Start Voice Chat, Start Dictation, Send Message and List Bots.

Start Dictation needs only an unlocked phone, not an open app, and tracks its progress in the Dynamic Island.

If your iPhone has an Action Button, map it in iOS Settings under Action Button: choose Shortcut, then Grok Bot > Start Voice Chat.

Reminders and Apple Home access are iPhone only, and alarms need a newer iOS than the app itself.

When the phone side misbehaves

Most phone problems come down to three things: the app is closed, a permission is off, or the desktop is soaking up your alerts.

A Bot can only reach your iPhone apps while Grok Bot is open on the phone, and it will ask you to open the app and try again if it is not.

If an app shows Denied under This iPhone, tap Open Settings and switch it on in iOS.

If sign-in loops on the phone, the troubleshooting guide says to sign in on desktop first.

When the cloud computer will not connect from the phone, fix it from the desktop app, because recovery is not available on mobile.

For an outdated build, tap Update Grok Bot to fetch the new version from the App Store.

And when you need help, open Settings, tap Send Feedback, and mention the version and that you are on iOS.

What to keep on the desktop

Teaching by demonstration, testing routines, renaming pages and updating or recovering the computer all stay on the desktop.

If you have not set that half up yet, start with the Grok Bot Mac guide.

An App Store subscription is handled by Apple, so cancel or change it under Apple ID → Subscriptions, as the Grok Bot FAQ explains.

FAQ

Can my Agent OS control the Grok Bot iPhone app directly?

No. Your Agent OS drafts the briefs, rules and checks, and you paste them into Grok Bot on the phone. The Bots then run on their own cloud computer.

Which iPhone do I need for Grok Bot?

Any iPhone on iOS 18 or later. The same app also runs on iPad with iPadOS 18 or later.

Where are Custom Rules on the iPhone?

Open Settings and tap Custom Rules in the Bot group. Auto Review must be on for the rules to apply.

Why can the Bot not use my iPhone apps?

Grok Bot must be open on the phone, and you must ask from your own chat with a Bot you own. Check Settings, then Connect apps, then iPhone for any app marked Denied.
