For the longest time there was one job I'd never hand to an AI agent. Spending money. I'd let it research, write, build, post — but the second it touched my card, I pulled back. One wrong move and it empties the account. So I kept doing the boring buying myself. The tabs, the price-checks, the checkout forms, the order tracking. Then I wired this in. Now my Hermes agent finds the thing, fills the cart, and stops dead at the till — waiting for my tap. The card never even touches it. That changed everything.

The framework · the 24/7 Assistant Engine

The 24/7 Assistant Engine™.

An assistant that never clocks off — it shops, buys, tracks and reorders for you around the clock. Here's what makes it safe enough to actually trust with money.

i.

Always On

It doesn't sleep. Ask it at 2am to find a part, restock the office, or grab a gift — it's already working while you're not.

ii.

Finds Anything

It searches every store at once, compares prices, and picks the best one — so you stop opening fourteen tabs to buy one thing.

iii.

The Approval Wall

Every purchase stops at a wall: your tap. The agent cannot self-approve. Nothing gets bought until you say yes, in your own app.

iv.

The Sealed Wallet

Your card lives in Stripe Link, never in the agent. It only ever gets a one-time token it can't reuse. Your real card number never touches the AI.

v.

One Setup

Install it once, link your card once, and it just runs. No code to babysit. The tool walks you through linking your card itself.

Old way vs new way

Why nobody let an AI buy things — until now.

Here's the shift. The old way was either "do all the buying yourself" or "hand an AI your raw card and pray." Both are broken. This is the third option.

Old way · you do it all
~ hours every week
  • Open six tabs, compare prices yourself by hand
  • Type your card into every single checkout form
  • Hunt through your email to track each order
  • Re-order the same supplies manually, again and again
  • Never dare let an AI near your card — one slip empties it
  • Result: the dullest work on your plate, still on your plate
New way · The 24/7 Assistant Engine
~ minutes, gated
  • Say "find me X under $Y" — it searches every store at once
  • It picks the best option and shows you the exact total
  • You tap approve in your Link app — that's the only step that spends
  • It tracks the order and reorders on command
  • Your card stays sealed in Link — the agent never sees it
  • Result: the buying runs itself, and you stay in full control
How it works · two skills, one wall

What's actually under the hood.

It's two skills bolted onto a Hermes profile, plus one rule the agent can't break.

A.

The shopping skill (Shop.app)

Searches products across every store, compares prices, finds the checkout, tracks orders, handles returns and reorders. Product search needs no login at all.

B.

The payment rail (Stripe Link)

The agent never holds your card. When it's time to pay, it creates a spend request — and that request only goes through after you approve it in the Link app. It physically cannot approve its own spend.

Here's it actually working — a real product search the agent ran, no login, no money:

you › find me a wireless mechanical keyboard
agent › Evoworks Evo75 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard — $205.00 at OZO Keyboards · 4.9/5 (39 reviews)
tri-mode connectivity · hot-swappable · CNC aluminium · 8000mAh
→ checkout ready · say the word and I'll line up the spend request
THE SEALED WALLET The agent one-time token only never 🔒 Stripe Link your real card lives here never enters the agent or its logs You approve in Link, per spend Paid ✓
The agent and your real card never meet. It gets a one-time token; you approve; Link pays.

And here's exactly what it looks like in the terminal — the real session, start to finish. The agent gets created, the two skills install, it searches every store and finds a real product, and the wallet stays sealed until you approve:

a real run on my machine — type the commands, watch it find a real product, card never touches the agent

Want your own 24/7 Assistant Engine?

I set this up inside the Agent OS — the same dashboard where my Hermes agents share one memory, one team, one screen. The shopping agent is just one more profile in there.

Do it yourself · the setup

Wire it in — about ten minutes.

Each step has its own terminal recording — the real commands, the real output. Run them in order and you're live.

Make a shopping profile.

A dedicated Hermes profile so the buying agent is its own thing, separate from your other work.

▶ Step 1 · create the agent
Install the two skills.

The Shop.app skill (find + checkout + track) and the Stripe Link skill (the approval-gated payment rail).

▶ Step 2 · install the skills
Link your card — you, not the agent.

Run the Link login. It opens your own Link app where you add your card. The agent never sees it. This is the one step only you can do.

▶ Step 3 · link your card
Give it a budget + a guardrail.

Tell it to always confirm the total first and never buy without your approval. Set a spend cap it can't cross.

▶ Step 4 · the guardrail it can't break
Ask it to buy something.

"Find me X under $Y." It searches, picks, shows the total — you tap approve in Link. Done.

▶ Step 5 · buy something (approval-gated)
The safety rules, in plain English ↓
Should you do this · what holds people back

The three fears — and why they're backwards.

Fear: "I could never trust an AI with my money."

Truth: You're not trusting it with your money. It literally can't spend on its own — every purchase needs your tap in your own app, and the agent never even sees your card. You hand it the legwork, never the wallet.

Fear: "Setting this up sounds technical."

Truth: It's two installs and one login. The payment tool walks you through linking your card itself. If you can sign into an app on your phone, you can do this part — and it's the only part that's yours.

Fear: "Letting an AI buy things is reckless."

Truth: Reckless is typing your raw card into a bot. This is the opposite — the card stays sealed in Link, the agent only gets one-time tokens it can't reuse, and nothing moves without your approval. It's safer than the manual way, where your card sits in fourteen browser autofills.
