Hermes Meshy: The Quick Start For Making 3D Models With Hermes Agent, And How It Fits Your Agent OS
Hermes Meshy is the official Meshy plugin for Hermes Agent, and it lets your agent make 3D models from a text prompt or a photo.
Nous Research packages it, Meshy AI writes the MCP server inside it, and you install it with hermes plugins install meshy.
It needs a Meshy API key on a Pro plan or above, Node.js 18 or newer and Hermes 0.22.3 or newer, and the catalog added it on 21 October 2026.

The install commands are copied from the plugin README, which gives them as hermes plugins install meshy and then hermes plugins enable meshy.
The first start downloads the pinned server package into npm's cache, so the first session takes a little longer.
In Hermes Desktop, the catalog page also has an Open in Hermes Desktop button, and the plugin then shows under Capabilities and Plugins.
The README says you can also put MESHY_API_KEY=msy_... in your profile's .env file, and the key never goes in config.yaml.

The point I made in the video is that 3D used to be a skill you learned in Blender, and now the skill is knowing what to ask for.
Do not confuse it with Hermes3D, which is a community 3D office for watching agents and does not make models.
What Hermes Meshy costs
The plugin is free and MIT licensed, but every model spends Meshy credits.
The README says API keys need a Pro plan or above, and most Meshy tools spend 5 to 62 credits per call.
Meshy's pricing page said on 23 October 2026 that Pro includes 1,000 credits a month and API access.
Meshy's API pricing docs listed a mesh-only text-to-3D preview on its latest model at 20 credits on the same day.

The plugin adds 28 tools, which Hermes exposes as mcp__meshy__<tool>.
They load on demand through Hermes's tool search, so they cost nothing in the prompt until the agent uses one.

Text to 3D is a two-stage job, because meshy_text_to_3d makes an untextured preview and meshy_text_to_3d_refine textures it once you approve.
The skill's tool reference says a generation typically takes two to three minutes.
The README's second starter prompt is "Turn ~/photos/mug.jpg into a 3D model and get it ready to print at 10 cm."
My broken cupboard knob example from the video uses the same path, which is photo, model, resize, repair and slicer.
How Hermes Meshy guards your credits
The plugin marks Meshy's server as trust: untrusted, so Hermes asks before every create, download or cancel.
The skill also tells the agent to state the cost and get your yes before any paid call.

On builds with MCP tool costs, the prompt reads something like "Costs about 5–25 credits" plus what the chat has already spent.
The README shows how to override the server in config.yaml to skip the prompts, and it warns that your entry replaces the plugin's trust setting too.
Your override keeps the costs and the 200-credit limit unless it sets tool_costs or spend_limit itself, and spend_limit: 0 turns the limit off.
Files, formats and the three-day rule
meshy_download_model saves to the absolute save_to path the agent passes, and the skill asks it to always pass one.
Without a path, files land in a meshy_output/ folder inside the plugin's own data directory, not your project.
A refined model downloads as GLB, FBX, OBJ with its .mtl and texture, STL and USDZ, while a preview is GLB only.
meshy_process_multicolor also makes a multicolour 3MF for your slicer.
Downloads of formats Meshy already made are free, and missing formats need a paid Convert action through chat.
The README says API assets normally expire after three days, and Meshy's API quickstart says it keeps files for 3 days on every plan except Enterprise.

The Hermes Desktop extras
Turn on the plugin's Desktop switch under Capabilities and Plugins, because the Desktop half is opt-in.
You then get inline 3D cards, rendered with stock three.js, that you can orbit, zoom, switch to wireframe or open in a tab.
Every card has a download menu, and the Meshy 3D gallery opens from the status-bar chip or from ⌘K and "Meshy: open 3D gallery".
The "Made from" panel shows the prompt, settings, seed, credits and the chain of steps behind each model, with a link back to the chat that made it.
A credit chip in the status bar refreshes after every Meshy call.
Settings live in Desktop under Settings, Plugins and Meshy, and each one is also a config key such as plugins.entries.meshy.settings.show_credits.
The other keys are inline_viewer, auto_rotate and gallery_limit, which defaults to 24 and accepts 1 to 60.

I would give Meshy its own profile, because the key lives in that profile's .env and no other agent can spend the credits.
The README says Hermes passes MCP servers a filtered environment, so the Meshy server only ever sees MESHY_API_KEY.
