Claude Code — but running on GLM-5.2.

Same agentic power that edits your files and builds whole apps. A different brain underneath: GLM-5.2 — a 1M-token context, near-Opus coding, at a fraction of the cost. I wired it into my Agent OS as GLM Code and built real apps with it. Here's how.

See it building ↓ A glowing terminal-agent with emerald GLM energy flowing in from one side and warm Claude energy from the other, a 1M context glow above, assembling app windows around it

You don't have to pick between a great coding agent and a cheap one.put the great agent on the cheap brain.

In plain English first

What "GLM Code" actually is

You know Claude Code — the coding agent that doesn't just chat, it actually writes and edits files, runs commands, and builds whole projects for you.

Normally Claude Code thinks using Anthropic's models. Brilliant, but you pay Anthropic's rates for every token.

Here's the trick: Claude Code lets you point its "brain" somewhere else. So I pointed it at GLM-5.2 — a top open-source model — running through Ollama Cloud.

You keep the exact same agent you love. You just swap the engine under the hood for one that's a fraction of the price and carries a 1-million-token memory.

That's GLM Code. Claude Code's hands, GLM-5.2's head. And it's now a one-click section in my Agent OS.

My story · why this matters

I love Claude Code. I didn't love the bill.

Before

I run Claude Code all day — building tools, fixing sites, shipping features.

But long agentic sessions burn through tokens, and the bill adds up fast.

On big jobs I'd also hit the context wall and have to keep re-explaining things.

I kept thinking: I want this exact agent, but cheaper, with way more memory.

Then I pointed Claude Code at GLM-5.2 through Ollama Cloud.

After

Same agent, same skills, same file-editing power — now running on a 1M-context model.

My test builds came in around 30 cents each, finished in under half a minute.

And it lives in my Agent OS as a tab called GLM Code — type a goal, watch it build.

You can wire this in today. Same tools. Same path.

This is the stack 3,600+ founders are running

I'm not theorising about agent setups. This is the operating system I build in every day, alongside agency owners, ecom founders and creators across 38 countries inside the Boardroom.

Commit to trying this today. Not someday.

You're about to see a coding agent build real apps for ~30 cents a go.

So make yourself one promise: before you sleep tonight, you'll run one build on a cheaper brain.

Just one. Because the moment you stop overpaying for agent tokens, you start running agents on everything.

The people who win this year aren't the ones with the biggest AI bill. They're the ones who got the same output for less and shipped more.

Be one of them. Try it today.

Is GLM-5.2 actually good?

It's the strongest open model — and close to the best closed one

This only matters if the cheaper brain is actually smart. It is. GLM-5.2 is Z.ai's flagship — 756 billion parameters, a real 1M-token context, MIT-licensed. Here's how it stacks up on coding (Z.ai's published numbers):

81.0
Terminal-Bench 2.1
Opus 4.8 is 85.0 — within a few points
#1
open-source model
top-ranked on 3 long-horizon coding benchmarks
1M
token context
whole projects in memory at once

On FrontierSWE (open-ended projects that take hours), GLM-5.2 trails Opus 4.8 by just 1% and actually edges out GPT-5.5. In plain terms: for everyday building, you will struggle to feel the gap — but you'll feel the price.

How it works

The whole trick, in three steps

1

Ollama runs GLM-5.2 for you

Ollama Cloud hosts the 756B model. You don't download it — you just call it, and it speaks the same "language" Claude Code expects.

2

You point Claude Code at it

Claude Code has a setting for "use a different brain". You aim it at Ollama instead of Anthropic — one line: ollama launch claude --model glm-5.2:cloud.

3

Agent OS makes it a button

I wired all of that into a tab called GLM Code, so you just type what you want and it builds — no terminal, no setup, every project saved.

The Agent OS surface

GLM Code — the real Claude Code terminal

This is the tab in my Agent OS. It opens with the exact Claude Code welcome screen you know — except the model line says glm-5.2:cloud. You type what you want; it runs the real Claude Code tool loop (Write, Edit, Bash) and builds it.

The GLM Code terminal in Agent OS — a real Claude Code session running on GLM-5.2, writing a clock app
Real screen capture: it's the real Claude Code terminal — here it's writing a neon clock app, on GLM-5.2, in 2 turns for 30 cents.

👉 Open GLM Code in Agent OS

Just type what you want built and press Enter. Every project saves to the Workspace tab with a live preview — so you can see exactly what GLM-5.2 shipped.

I ran real tests

Three apps, built by GLM Code, in under a minute each

I gave it three everyday builds. Each one came back as a clean, working, single-file app — and each cost about 30 cents and two turns:

Pomodoro timer built by GLM Code
Pomodoro timer — circular progress ring, start/reset, session counter. $0.33 · 16s.
Markdown notes app built by GLM Code
Markdown notes app — live preview, saves to your browser. $0.35 · 23s.

Every one built itself — wrote the file, no copy-paste, saved to the workspace, ready to open. That's the agent doing the work, on the cheaper brain.

One honest note: if you ask it for a fancy 3D/WebGL game, GLM-5.2 sometimes over-reaches and ships a black screen — 3D games are its weak spot. For the everyday stuff most of us actually build — tools, dashboards, landing pages, calculators, apps — it's excellent. Use the right brain for the job (that's the whole point of having a few).

The shift

One pricey brain vs the right brain for the job

The old way

  • Run every agent job on one premium model.
  • Watch the token bill climb on long sessions.
  • Hit the context wall and re-explain yourself.
  • Think twice before letting an agent run free.

The new way

  • Keep the agent you love — swap the brain to fit the job.
  • Everyday builds for cents, on GLM-5.2.
  • A 1M-token memory holds the whole project.
  • Let agents run all day without flinching at the bill.
"Doesn't running agents in Agent OS cost a fortune in tokens?"

That's exactly the problem GLM Code solves. This whole thing runs on GLM-5.2 via Ollama Cloud — a fraction of premium rates — and you can run other parts of Agent OS on free local models and the CLIs you already pay for (I plug my existing Claude subscription straight in at no extra cost).

And inside the AI Profit Boardroom there's a full set of token-efficiency tutorials, so cost is never the thing that stops you shipping.

The full system

GLM Code is one tab. Agent OS is the whole workshop.

The cheaper-brain coding agent you just saw is a single surface inside Agent OS. Here's what running the full operating system looks like:

GLM Code — Claude Code's agentic power on GLM-5.2, at a fraction of the cost.
Every agent in one place — Claude, Codex, Kimi, GLM, Grok, Hermes and local models.
The Agent Kanban — fan one goal across a whole team of agents.
Run it for free — local models, free tiers, and the CLIs you already pay for.
Token-efficiency training — so cost is never what stops you.

Where this goes

Stop paying premium prices for everyday builds

The best coding agent and the cheapest brain were never really enemies. You can have both at once.

Claude Code does the work. GLM-5.2 does the thinking. Ollama Cloud serves it up. Agent OS turns it into a button.

So pick something small. Point your agent at the cheaper brain. Watch it build.

Same agent. Smarter spend. Go build.
